BRAZILIAN Stitch

This is an intricate stitch use to provide a special relief to tapestries. It is very frequently used in panels.


The "Brasileiro" stitch is started with a Cross Stitch (fig. 1 e 2) acquiring a long leg over the first stitch, which is also crossed (fig. 3 e 4). Working with an inverted needle; a leg that is longer that the left one is once again obtained, and will also be crossed (fig. 5 e 6). Again, a long leg from above to below, crossed once again, closing the stitch will continue forward to the next hole in the canvas (figs. 7,8,9).
