THE CROSS STITCH

Also called the Simple Cross Stitch, provides a clean reverse side and the knots can be done on the right side. It is one of the most popular stitches throughout the world.

HORIZONTAL CROSS STITCH

Begin by making a left to right stitch on the canvas, followed successively by a half stitch in every hole of the same row until the end (fig. 1 - 2 - 3). To complete the cross stitch, return from the end of the row with the needle in a diagonal position, from right to left, covering the half stitches with other half stitches, which will complete the cross forming the cross stitch (fig. 4).

DIAGONAL CROSS STITCH

The DIAGONAL CROSS STITCH is a variation of the cross stitch, allowing stitches to be worked laterally.
Once the first half stitch has been made, close it using the needle horizontally. On the next half stitch, the needle returns to the vertical position, from top to bottom and so on successively.
